Will Arsene Wenger stay in Arsenal any longer?

Arsenal was not able to win the cup for the last four years under the reign of Arsenal Wenger and it was in 2005 that Arsenal won the FA Cup under Wenger. Many supporters of Arsenal are not happy with the performance of the Arsenal and also with the manager.

Now supporters of Arsenal blame that Wenger’s way of selecting players is not effective and he has to be changed for the improvement of the performance. In the last conference, Wenger was subjected to some questions from the supporters about the performance of the club.

Now the question is whether Wenger is going to stay and how long he is going to stay. The contract of Wenger for the club will end in two years. Bob Wilson, ex-Gunners goalkeeper, said that Wenger will stay in the club and he cannot break the contract. But there has been a move of Wenger with Real Madrid and I thought he is angry with the attitude of the supporters of the club.

Bob Wilson said:

“Knowing Arsene as I do, I don’t think he would ever walk out on a contract. When you sign a player like (Andrey) Arshavin for that amount of money, when you get a player like Cesc Fabregas to agree to a seven-year contract, the player and their representatives are surely going to say along the way ‘where do you feature in this boss?’ Unless there was 90% or 80% or 60% or 70% of people against him, I don’t think he would ever walk out on a contract because he was such an honourable guy.”

Does Khaldoon Al Mubarak worry about Man City’s performance?

Khaldoon Al Mubarak who is the owner of Manchester City has already made a huge investment in buying new players. Now the question is whether the oil-rich owner is worried about the performance of the City in this season. He talked about the quality management and also the long time plan of the club.

People have been talking in many forums about the way of his investment in the club and now it seems like he realized and people were true about their words. Now he said that there should be considerably improvement in the performance of the club as per the investment they made in buying new players.

Also the club committee was talking about the long term plan of development of the players but the owner of the company said that they should give more importance to the short term result of the club. And now he gave the deadline of improving the club among the top six by the next season and also assures that this does not mean any threat to the job of the club’s manager.

Khaldoon Al Mubarak said:

“I think people see me as a reasonable and realistic man. Given what we have done this year and the ambitions we have this summer, a top-six finish should be achievable. There will be money for new players. We need more depth and plans are already advanced. I have been talking to [City’s chief executive] Garry Cook and Mark for weeks now. We are pretty clear on what we want, and I am clear on what Mark has identified as the areas that need to be supported, and we will step up. We all know we are not going to splash money around, because that model, that formula, doesn’t work. You’re not going to buy 22 new players and then the next year you win the Premier League. It needs to be done sustainably, with quality management, quality infra-structure and a quality manager. That’s what we are doing. The players will come, and the results will come.”

Chris Wilder will continue managing Oxford Club

Oxford is really progressing in this season and the Oxford boss, Chris Wilder, also shows his interest towards the club. He is ready to sign a new contract with the club for three more years and he is very open with the deal. He got another two offers from Burton and Brewers but he turned down the offers.

Burton is the Blue Square Premier Champions and it is really a great surprise how he turned down the proposal from this club. But Wilder shows his interest in the development of the club and with the effort of the players, he believes that they can do well in future and they are progressing.

Wilder said:

“My ambition has always been, and remains, returning Oxford to the Football League. I have never hidden my desire to manage at the highest level but I am convinced that this club is making progress and we can realise those dreams together.”

Kelvin Thomas, Oxford Chairman, said:

“My relationship with Chris is very good and I did discuss Burton’s request with him. I am delighted that he has committed his future to the club and look forward to concentrating on bringing the players that we would like to the football club.”

Diedier Drgoba’s reaction after the match

It was a very unlucky day for Chelsea even though they were performing well in the season, they are now out of the Champions League following 1-1 draw with Barcelona in semi-final match. All the Chelsea players became so violent after the match and when Barca reached final at their expense. The point was not about Barcelona reaching final in expense of them but the decisions of the referee were completely against them.

All the players of Chelsea were not happy with many decisions of the referee Tomm Henning Ovrebo and Droga launched a verbal assault on the referee just after the last whistle. I personally watched the match and also I felt bad about the decision of the referee because in many situations, he was not giving fouls even though it was quite visible.

Meanwhile many professionals and officials of players’ union are against the comment of Drogba. Many people comment that he should be punished for his assualt.

Taylor, Footballers’ Association Chief Executive:

“It is not acceptable. It will have to be punished [by Uefa]. But having been a player, you knew where Drogba was coming from.”

UEFA spokesman said:

“We will see the report from the referee and match delegate before deciding whether to take any action. You could see there were going to be problems at the end of the game and that’s why stewards and security should have been very careful to make sure that no-one got near the referee.”

John Terry said:

“I am fully behind Didier for the way he reacted. The man wants to win. You can see the passion that he played with during the game and the passion afterwards. People are saying we shouldn’t have reacted the way we did but the fact is, six decisions went against us in front of 40,000 people. And for the ref to not give one of them is unusual.”

Charlton - Will Parkison stay or not

Charlton was not performing well for the last few seasons and also the club is changing the manager quite frequently which is not good for the club. Four managers have already been changed since 2006. Phil Parkinson also said that it is not good for the club to keep changing the manager as this will not keep stability in the club.

There may have pressure from the higher management of the club about replacing the manager. But Parkison has the view that the club currently need to give emphasis on the stability of the club. He said that he knows all the players and how they play and they need to fight again next year.

Phil Parkison:

“We need to come back fighting next year. If whoever the manager’s going to be can keep this group of players together we’ll have a chance of coming back. The name Charlton Athletic won’t get this club promotion next year. It will be the players out on the pitch and over these next six to eight weeks that will make or break next season. Things need to be sorted because the most important time for any manager in any club is the off-season. The club’s had a period of instability and needs a stable period. I know all the players, I know which players we’re going to get in because we’re already in talks with those players and, also, I’ve taken a team out of the first division before in Colchester and got them promoted. So if that wants to be changed and started all over again like the club has done several times then I’ll walk out of here with my head held high.”

Wallace to continue his career in Hearts

Scottish Premier League is becoming popular with many new rules and also they are producing many new players. The young defender Lee Wallace has been playing for Hearts and now his deal in the club is going to end but the club wants him to continue with the club.

Now Wallace is going to play for the club and his deal has been extended until June 2012. Also he was one of the important players for the club in this season and also currently the club can manage to stand in the third position because of the contribution from players like him. He has been awarded as the best young player of the February month in Scottish Premier League and also he was awarded as the best young player for the year in this club.

Lee Wallace said:

“This helps secure my future and gives me a bit of stability, which is great. Now I just want to concentrate on playing well for the club and help us get into Europe. It has been a good season for the team so far and I’m looking forward to helping bring more success to Tynecastle.”
