Polo was originated in Manipur
I am interested in researching about various games and sports. And I read many books about games and sports. I found an interesting topic about Polo. Do you know the origin of Polo? I am surprised to know that Polo is originated in Manipur. I guess many of you haven’t heard about the place Manipur. It is located at the north eastern part of India. And also it is border to Myanmar. Initially the game- Polo was played by the kings with Gods in the mythilogical age. It is traced back to 3100 BC that the game was played by Manipuri people with seven players in a side. The game is known as Sagol Kangjei in Manipur. Sagol means horse and the Kanjei means the stick with which they hit the ball. After British came to Manipur, the game became more popular and the British became interested in the game. The British people renamed the game as Polo and introduced the game to the world. Now Polo is worldly famous but we cannot forget the origin of Polo. King Kyamba, King Khagemba and King Chandra Kriti were the kings of Manipur who were the prominent patrons of the game. Now I am looking forward to share more about the game. I know you are a great fan of soccer but just wondering if you people know some basic ideas about when did the soccer origin and from where.Here I just want to share some thoughts.Well,expert trace back the origin of the game to 2nd and 3rd centuries B.C. in china.Also they have the views that the old Roman games Harpastum is very much resemble to the soccer and may be distant ancester of football.In Medival period,different types of football were played in Europe.It is after this Europe era of football that experts assume the origin a todays soccer.
In sixteen century,it was the the English Public School,that shaped the modern football and generally the headmaster Richard Mulcaster who turned the violent idea of football into more organized team sport that was beneficial to schoolboys.After this the game became more traditional,institutionalised,regulated and marked the beginning of modern football.On the mid-19th century many football enthusiasts tried to make many rules to become more and more organize and todays rules are the modification of the many rules that were decided by English Public School.The first rule were written in Eton College in the year 1815 after that the Cambridge rules at Cambridge University in 1848.The football enter many stages and made many rules to come to the present soccer.
Technology in football
There are many disputes whether it was a goal or not between the players,players and referees and even between fans.They loss their sweat over this.Now International Football Association Board (IFAB) has decided to introduce technology in making quick right decision over this question.The board has often debated over the topics more recently as to remove the doubt of referees and help them to make quick and more precise decision by implementing some technology.In the meeting of the board at the Miskin Manor hotel,the FIFA partner Adidas along with the German company Cairos AG have developed a system to check,whether a score has been made or not,with a prototype of a ball with an embedded electronics chip and also announced the necessary stadium infrastructure and demonstrated how the system works.The presentation made the F.A. Board to decide the system to be tested in competitive football and also empowered FIFA to implement the technology at the U-17 World Championship at Peru.President of FIFA Joseph S. Blatter welcomed the Board’s decision and quoted as “Not a day goes by without technology making progress. We therefore have a duty to at least examine whether new technology could be used in football. The Board had already agreed to test goal-line technology, provided that the systems were available. The critical issue, however, will be to ensure that such technology would not affect the Laws’ universal nature or the authority of match officials.”

As the Cricket World Cup 2007 comes nearer and nearer,cricket fans start thinking themselves as Sachin Tendulkar or Adam Gilchrist.Cricket fans are ready to make a huge shout on the match between different nations.And also it is the interest no matter what and where they belong.An Indian may be great fan of Ricky Pointing or an Aussie may be a great fan of Tendulkar.In the midst i want to lay down some background or history of Cricket World Cup.How did this origin and where from.
To organize a worldly event is not an easy task and even more tough at the starting.So,the same thing happened for the International Cricket Organization when they started organizing a worldly event for the game Cricket.It was in 1912 that the first attempt to organize a world championship was made.And it was arranged between the current nations England,Australia and South Africa.Because of some weather situation the experiment was dropped.But in 1975 they met the triumph and arranged one day competitions among different nations i.e., England,Australia,India,New Zealand,West Indies,Pakistan,Sri Lanka and East Africa.This marked the beginning of the first Cricket World Cup host by England.Following two more tournament was held in 1973 and 1983 again in England.After that the tournament started being organized in aboard.In 1987 the tournament was held in India and Pakistan and following by 1992 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.Again in India,Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 1996.Then in England in 1999 and in South Africa(2003).In this coming World Cup 2007,the tournament will be held in Caribbean where lots of miracles ans surprises going to be happened.
