Bryan Clay won Decathlon
Bryan Clay is the first American who won decathlon in Olympics since 1996. Decathlon is an event with ten events and there is always tough competition in these events. It is very excited event because one must be good in average in all the events in order to win decathlon.
Bryan Clay was the silver medalist in the 2004 Olympics and world champion in 2005 and this time he won the event with 8791 points. The 522 points acquired in the 1500 meters ob late Friday helped him a lot. Dan O’Brien was the last athlete who won the Olympic decathlon in 1996, Atlanta.
Andrei Krauchanka of Belarus, Leonel Suarez of Cuba and Roman Sebrle of the Czech Republic were the close competitors of Bryan Clay in the event. They won silver, bronze and sixth position respectively. Roman Sebrle of the Czech Republic who is the Olympic champion could only manage to complete in 6th position.
In more than five of the ten events, Clay finished the competition with first or second positions and third in two more events. These help Clay to score the highest point in the overall performance. On the Friday, he extended his competition with finishing second in the 110 meter hurdle, winning discuss and his performance in pole vault.
Fate of US Gymnast Team
Two of the most consistent US gymnasts are not going to appear in the gymnast floor of the Beijing Olympics. The two Hamm are not going to participate in the coming Beijing Olympics because of the injury in the ankle and the injury in the chest muscle. It is very disappointment in the US gymnasts team because the two Hamm brothers are the well known athletes of US and they have been expecting medals for these two players. They are undisputed gymnasts but God was not with them.
It was declared that Morgan Hamm is not going to participate in the Olympics only when he has got to the Beijing already. He has been practising for the floor gymnastic even if he has injury in the ankle. But finally it has been decided by the coach, Kevin Mazeika to replace Hamm by Sasha who is the national champion. But the performance of this young gymnast is not comparable to that of Hamm. The teammate Jonathan Horton is not feeling good with the loss of Hamm from their team even if they can compete well in the athlete.
I guess US will lose medals in Gymnastic and Olympics without Hamm will be an Olympics without medals for US. There was a tore in the muscle chest of Morgan Hamm in early October which needs five month duration of recovery and recently there is injury in the ankle. Now he declares not fit for participating in the Beijing Olympics and he is worry about his career in gymnastic.
Pollution and China Olympics
Olympics is one of the largest events in the field of games and sports. Many players are waiting to create history and record in the coming Olympics. But recently I heard a very interesting news about the coming Olympics. Many countries are complaining about the pollution level of China. The pollution level of china is very high that many countries are warning that they will not participate in the Olympics if the pollution level is checked in China for the coming Olympics.
Now the government of China is trying to remove the smoke and dust particles from the cities at some extend by banning vehicles and industries. Now if China is going to stop some of the industries, then it will definitely affect the economy of the nation. On the other hand, the pollution level China is very critical that players do not want to come to the country and play the games.
Now I am just wondering if Olympics is going to happen in China (Obviously it will happen) but the question is that “Will China stop some industries and solve the problem”. This is very critical situation for the China government to take decision. All the supporters from across the globe are now started preparation for cheering about their teams and countries.
Again a new Steroid case
Doping and steroid cases are very common in athletic and football. I have come across many stories of doping and taking steroids since my childhood. In football I heard for the first time in the Maradona’s case of taking steroids. Taking steroids helps the players to generate short term energy and stamina to the body. Now I heard a fresh case of steroid for the China’s top female triathlete, Wang Hongai. She has been banned for taking steroids for two years and with this she will miss the Beijing Olympics of 2008. It is unfortunate that she will miss the Olympic even if it is happening in her home ground.
She was formerly banned by the International Triathlon Union after becoming positive in the steroid test. This is the highest nation’s doping profile just after the Sun Yingjie who is the long distance runner. In both A and B samples Wang recorded positive for exogenous metabolites of testosterone. But the question is the banning of Wang will affect her team or mot? It is the personal problem of using steroid and not the problem of the team as a whole. It should impact on the personal career only and not to the team as a whole.
Lewis’s view about track
One of the most popular figure in Olympic history Carl Lewis reportedly says about the trouble of track with increasing scandals that have stripped some champions of their titles after they tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. He was nine times Olympic champion and the most outstanding sprinter and long jumper since Jesse Owens.Lewis said the sport that made him a celebrity has hit hard times and he further added at the USA track and Field indoor championships in Boston that the sport is in trouble.
“When I see poker and I don’t see track and field on TV-that’s a problem.” he added.
