It is a great honored that shows by the people of Bristol. The former England captain Eddie Hapgood will be honored by the people of Bristol by giving his name to a street of Bristol. Eddie Hapgood played for Arsenal and he captained for the club for long time. He was first spotted and the Bristol Rovers noticed his talent when he was playing for Philip’s Marsh Adult School Juniors. He moved to Arsenal in 1927 and made almost 400 appearances for Arsenal. Arsenal won five League titles and two FA clubs while he was playing for the clubs. Under his captaincy, England won many important international matches.

Mike Hapgood, his son, said:

“This is such a terrific honour and my sister, brother and I are very proud and touched that Bristol people still hold the memory of my father in their hearts. Even though he played at the highest levels of international football he never lost touch with his Bristol roots.”

Mark Wright, Councillor of Bristol City, said:

“This development will provide much-needed housing which will meet the needs of people wanting to rent, as well as those looking to get on to the housing ladder.”
