Fifa is trying to make some changes in the club football rule. The proposal came from FIFA and feasibility of the rule is still under investigation. According to the new proposed rule of FIFA, the club football should not be allowed to play more than five foreign players in the starting of a match.

Also Institute of European Affairs (INEA) comments on the new rule that it is not conflicting with their rules and this is completely an independent rule for FIFA. If the rule is made effective, then there may be some consequence in the club football and also in the club football business.

But this is yet to be finalized and the final report will be released according to the subsequent talks of EU and the FIFA. Now let’s see the exact words of the representatives of FIFA and INEA.

INEA said:

“There is no conflict with European law. We took no instructions from Fifa. INEA accepted this commission on condition that our requirements of complete independence were met.”

The Report of the new rule:

“The key aim of the 6+5 rule in the view of the experts is the creation and assurance of sporting competition. The 6+5 rule does not impinge on the core area of the right to freedom of movement. The rule is merely a rule of the game declared in the general interest of sport in order to improve the sporting balance between clubs and associations.”
