It was on November 4 only that Maradona was appointed as the head coach of the Argentina and now a fresh talk has started about the probability of Maradona to quit his role as team coach of Argentina. The issue is related to the choosing of assistant coach of the team.
Maradona wants to choose Oscar Ruggari, who was the defender of Argentina, to be the assistant coach of the team and he wants full freedom of choosing his staffs. But the Argentina Football Association does not want Ruggari to be the assistant coach.
Maradona says that he will quit his role as head coach of Argentina if he does not have the full freedom of choosing his own staffs. In on side, the statement seems to be correct but from the Argentina Football Association, it is not possible and also it is quite sensible that AFA is here to choose the staffs.
In between the discussion, Carlos Bilardo insists that Maradona will not carry out his threat and added:
“He won’t resign. I have spoken to Diego and told him he has to go slowly. There are 500 people he can choose to assist him. When I coached the national team (between 1983 and 1990) I had to change my whole staff after four or five months of work. But Diego wants them all at once.”
The clash seems to be between Maradona and AFA boss Julio Grondon who is strongly against the choosing of Ruggeri as the assistant coach but he does not want to disclose the reason why he does not want him to be assistant coach. He says:
“It’s my problem. I don’t want to talk about this.”
